Celtic 1-0 Rangers

The player ratings.

Read below for the thoughts and ratings on the players yesterday.

Craig Gordon : Spotted at HOOKED on Cathcart Road midway through the second half. The spiced haddock supper would have gave him more of a challenge than any of Rangers frontmen all afternoon. Just as easy as the 2-0 win back in early 2015. Rating : 7

Mikael Lustig : Could have endured a torrid last 20 minutes, as he was struggling and the rigors of the match V BMG in midweek looked to have caught up with him, but Rangers did him a favour by bringing on the woefully ineffective Joe Doodoo Dahan, and made sure he could wind down the game easily. Rating : 7

Jozo Simunovic : The @GIGPOD Man Of The Match - composed, commanding and concise. Laid on a brilliant ball for Griffiths with the winning goal and made a fantastic block to deny the best technical midfielder in Scotland (allegedly) in the second half. Hopefully he is not the subject of any transfer bids in January. Rating : 9

Erik Sviatchenko : Harshly had a goal chopped off in the second half, but didn't let that affect him and was largely untroubled in the match. Poor distribution at times though, and his touch wasn't the best. Hard to criticise when he helped us towards a clean sheet though. Rating : 7

Kieran Tierney : Maybe time he is rested ? Again in the second half, like against BMG, Tierney looked exhausted and wasn't as impressive attacking-wise as he has been since his breakthrough in the first team. You have to probably credit James Tavernier for nullifying his threat too. Rating : 6

Scott Brown : The last time Brown was at Hampden his mistakes resulted in two Rangers goals, his penalty was a howler and he let himself be bullied by Andy fucking Halliday but there was to be no repeat this time, with the captain very comfortable against the walking marble staircase himself. Fine cynical foul too on the ned of Edmiston Drive late in the game. Rating : 8

Nir Bitton : Poor display, too slow on the ball, brought the pace of the team down and we looked a far better team when we was replaced. Serious questions marks now over the Israeli in terms of a regular starting place. His body language after the game was also off, but we won't be all ITK about it on this occasion. Rating: 5

Tom Rogic : Should have capitalised on Gilks mistake in the first half, but otherwise spread the play well until he was replaced. Quieter in the second half, but we're sure he'll go back to scoring screamers very soon. Rating : 6

Scott Sinclair : Denied a few times by Gilks and was unlucky not to score with a freekick in the second half, but constantly demanded the ball and was a threat every time he was in possession. Another player who could maybe do with a rest before the Aberdeen game next weekend. Rating : 7

James Forrest : Similar to Sinclair - looked for the ball out wide and provided a good balance in the team. The threat of him alone stopped Lee Wallace marauding up the park on a frequent basis. Would perhaps benefit from a rest in midweek as well. Rating : 7

Moussa Dembele : The Black Jesus was well marshalled by Clint Hill most of the game, and had been frustrated all afternoon, but came up trumps with a great improvised finish late into the second half. Another big game, another big goal. Priceless signing. Shoutout to him for putting up with the smell of my breath after the game as well!  Rating : 8

Stuart Armstrong : Excellent display and looks set to start in midweek after fine game changing performance. Kept the ball moving forwards and made many good runs deep into the last third to support the attack, and could have scored but for the foot of Gilks. After last season's horror shows, it's encouraging to see him back on track again, as he has all the potential to be a big player for us and Scotland.  Rating : 8

Leigh Griffiths : Introduced late on and his movement terrorised the Rangers back three. Provided the ball for Dembele's goal. Like Armstrong, changed the match and is surely in for a start against Ross County. Rating : 7
