CELTIC 1-0 HAMILTON

Review and Dembele thoughts.

So Celtic go 11 points clear at the top of the league after what sounded like a pretty drab 1-0 win over Hamilton, fair enough I suppose, not all performances can be brilliant. The only goal came when Moussa Dembele laid the ball on a plate for Leigh Griffths who almost lost the ball but managed to put it into the empty net. Interestingly, Dembele and Griffiths played up front together, but the experiment doesn't seem to have worked so it'll probably be back to one up front on Saturday versus Dundee, and it wouldn't surprise me if Dembele found himself on the bench.

Now onto the main point of the article, Dembele has now went five league games without a goal but is still playing relatively well, and overall this season he has been a huge success with 17 goals in 30 games so far, including three in the Champions League and four against Rangers...however if Celtic were offered ridiculous money for him in the January transfer window then I would sell him.

A couple of caveats to the proposed transfer however - by ridiculous money I mean between £15 and 20 million and if possible I would hope that the club would manage to arrange that Dembele manages to stay until the end of the season even if a fee is agreed for him to leave at the end of the season. Selling him seems like a no brainer to me - there's no guarantee he will be as prolific in the second half of the season and of course the most high profile games of the season - aside from the games against Rangers and the Scottish Cup - ended against Man City last week.

Also, selling Dembele seems like good insurance in case we somehow don't qualify for the Champions League next season, we would recoup any losses with his transfer fee. Also let's face it, even without Dembele we have a squad good enough of winning the Scottish Cup and Leigh Griffiths is an ideal replacement domestically at least. We would obviously have to scout a replacement but I have faith in Brendan Rodgers' ability to do that and selling Dembele fits into Celtic's policy of buying low and selling him, which has got us big money for Wanyama and Van Dijk.

I would be perfectly happy for Dembele to stay at Celtic for a couple of seasons but selling him either now or at the end of the season is a decision that I think the club should really think about doing. What do the GIGPOD readers think?
